This fall St. George Musical Theater is entertaining the community again, this time touching the hearts of audiences with the classic show "The Secret Garden." The small cast of 20 actors are presenting almost three months of dedicated work in a story about 10-year-old Mary, who is left an orphan to live with her despondent hunchback uncle who is mourning the loss of his long ago dead wife and disregarding his only son.
Two big star power movies released this week do not disappoint but do raise eyebrows. And raising eyebrows can be both good and bad in the case of "Righteous Kill" and "Burn After Reading." In some movies too many stars can overpower a key scene or the overall tone of the film and make it unappealing to audiences.
"Lights, camera, action" is an everyday phrase at Dixie State College. Phil Tuckett, director of the Dick Nourse Center for Media Innovation, oversees the filmmaking program and guides students through the process of coming up with a topic for a film and actually making it.
Last month's announcement that Stephenie Meyer's newest book, "Midnight Sun," wouldn't be released as her latest novel disappointed many "Twilight" fans. In a press release on Meyer's Web site, www.stepheniemeyer.com, from Aug. 28, she explained she had given a copy of her unfinished manuscript to a friend, who turned around and posted it illegally over the Internet without her knowledge.
Painter Brian Hoover and ceramicist Susan Harris present their perspectives at the "Mythical Objects: Detached Realities" art exhibit in the Sears Art Museum Gallery of the Eccles Fine Arts Center. Hoover said he always wanted to be an architect but was horrible at math.
