Drug use is an issue in the St. George area and on the Dixie State College campus. A student recovering drug addiction urges other student addicts to quit now.

Dixie State College's head football coach, Ron Haun, announced his retirement from coaching Wednesday, following his fourth year at the school. Coordinator of Internal Operations Jeff Cluff said Haun felt it was the right time to retire. "It was just time and he is moving on with his life," Cluff said.

Dixie State College to hold H1N1 flu shootout Monday

In conjunction with The Southwest Public Health Department (SWUPHD), Dixie State College of Utah will hold a mass vaccination clinic at the DSC Old Gym this Monday, November 23, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. According to the SWUPHD, the priority groups eligible to get the H1N1 vaccine have been expanded to include the following: - Everyone ages 6 months to 24 years of age - Pregnant women - Parents/Caregivers of infants under 6 months of age Through an agreement between DSC and SWUPHD, approximately 2,000 doses will be made available through this shootout on a first come-first serve basis to DSC students, faculty and staff members and immediate family who meet the criteria.

Junior college history leaves some DSC coaches with lower salaries

Only four out of the 10 intercollegiate sports on campus have full-time coaches due to lack of funds. Jeff Cluff, athletic coordinator of internal affairs, said this is due to Dixie State College's previous junior college status.

DSC retention rate below national average

Retention is crucial to the future of Dixie State College. If retention is upheld more majors can be offered to those students planning to attend DSC to obtain a bachelor's degree.

President Nadauld's interim duties questioned

President Nadauld has served as interim president at Dixie State College for about 20 months. Even though students and faculty are happy with the progress and decisions made by Nadauld they say DSC needs a permanent president to help secure it's successful future.

Forensics team may be headed back to DSC

There is talk of the Dixie State College forensics program coming back to campus. There has not been a forensics team at DSC since 2002 due to lack of funds.
