In spite of a good shooting night the Red Storm fell to Grand Canyon University 82-80 as the team is no longer perfect in the Pacific West Conference. Dixie State College (12-4, 6-1) shot 60.9 percent from the field compared to 44 percent for the GCU Antelopes (10-13, 4-3).
The Red Storm men's basketball team defeated Grand Canyon University 78-68 at Burns Arena on Saturday to extend its record to 7-1 in the conference. Junior forward Tom Whitehead led Dixie State College in scoring with 20 points. The win keeps the Red Storm in second place behind Hawaii Pacific University.
The Dixie State College women's basketball team added a loss to its record, leaving them at 5-2 in conference. The Lady Red Storm players said they are looking forward to their rematch against the Grand Canyon University Antelopes Saturday.
Red Storm golfers will start their official season at the Golfweek Invitational in Orlando, Fla. on Feb. 7. The team's long-term goal is to make it to nationals this season. Find out more about the team's success and ambitions here.
The Red Storm baseball team will start the season this Friday against Mesa State College. Several players on the team said the first series of games are some of the most important of the season.
