Jeff Cluff, the coordinator of internal operations for the athletic department, said Haun felt it was the right time to retire.
"It was just time and he is moving on with his life," Cluff said. "He is having both knees replaced and plans to serve an LDS mission with his wife."
He also said offensive coordinator Scott Brumfield has been promoted to interim head coach, while Jim Eggleston, director of football operations, retains his position on staff. Brumfield will be the interim head coach until the end of spring practices. After spring football, the athletic department will evaluate the situation, talk to Brumfield, and then make a decision on a permanent head coach from there.
Haun compiled a 12-32 overall record during his four-year tenure at the school, helping the team make the transition from a junior college to an NCAA Division II program.
