The most intense shopping day of the year is upon us, and being prepared to fight for the goods is the next step.

Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, is a yearly event where many stores in the U.S. participate by having great deals on items throughout the whole day.

The frenzy usually begins early in the morning and some people even camp outside of the store waiting for the doors to open.

"It was so busy the news stations were there," said Michelle Jacobson, a freshman nursing major from Las Vegas. "I was on TV in the background. People were insane running around to stores, ripping things out of people's hands, and acting like complete idiots."

Jacobson shopped at the Meadows Mall in Las Vegas during Black Friday last year. She said there were great sales, like 50 percent off items that were originally expensive.

Some Black Friday ads have already been presented online and are easy to find by looking up Black Friday or any particular stores.

At Office Depot, there are more than 50 movie choices with a buy one, get one free deal. A free HP Printer D4360 is available with any PC purchase, and many other printers range in price from $30-$100 during Black Friday.

Target is open at 5 a.m. on Black Friday, and sales include a Nikon Coolpix Digital Camera for $88. The regular price is $140. A Tom Tom GPS with case is $97, which is more than $150 cheaper than the regular price. Free $10 gift cards are given to those who spend over $100 at Target from 5 a.m. until noon.

Portable DVD players are $88, which are usually $130. An Apex 40" full HD LCD television is $449, more than $150 off the typical price at Target.

Other stores also open incredibly early on Black Friday. Old Navy opens at 3 a.m. Old Navy's sale is called "Gobble Palooza" and is a three-day event.

Kids' jeans are $10, adults' jeans are $15, fleece tops are $5, and graphic tees are $5 on Friday only. All outerwear is 50 percent off during the weekend as well. Old Navy is giving away a free Lego Rockband video game with a purchase of $20.
